Redsn0w 0.9.6rc9 only supports first generation iPad and shouldn’t attempt to use it on iPad 2. Also make sure not to update iPad 2 to iOS 4.3.1 as the comex exploit has been patched in iOS 4.3.1. With iPad 2 on iOS 4.3 you still have chance of getting jailbreak.

How to Jailbreak iPad 4.3.1 iOS Using Redsn0w 0.9.6rc9:

Step 1. Download iOS 4.3.1 for iPad
Step 2. Download & Install iTunes 10.2
Step 3. Download Redsn0w 0.9.6rc9
Step 4. Now Start iTunes and Update iPad to iOS 4.3.1
Step 5. After you complete update process, start Redsn0w 0.9.6rc9
Step6. Click on browse and select 4.3.1 firmware file for iPad
Step 7. Now click on Next and let Redsn0w 0.9.6rc9 prepare data for jailbreak.
Step 8. After Redsn0w 0.9.6rc9 completes preparing jailbreak data, a screen with set of options will be provided.
Step 9. Now select “Install Cydia”  and click Next.(above image)
Step10. Redsn0w 0.9.6rc9 will ask you to turn off your iPad and connect to PC/Mac, click on next once you connect iPad to computer
Step 11. Now in this stage Redsn0w 0.9.6 rc9 will ask you to put your iPad in DFU mode, follow on screen instructions to do this
                      1. Hold “Power” button and then while holding the “Power” button, you will now have to hold “Home” button too for about 10 seconds.
                      2. Now after few seconds release “Power” button but keep holding “Home” button until installation begins (about 30 seconds).
Step 12. Now just wait until Redsn0w 0.9.6 rc9 completes the rest of the process. Once process completed, your iPad will restart automatically.
